Turning Three in Old Town: Alexandria, VA Family Photographer.

I had the opportunity to photograph a cute little guy on his third birthday over the weekend.  The session was full of pleasant surprises.  During the week, his mom and I had emailed all sorts of back up plans in case of freezing temperatures.  Then the weather report kept showing rain.

Somehow, we had upper 50s or low 60s and clouds.

This family used to be our neighbors, and this is the same little boy who literally ran from my camera on Halloween, less than a month ago.  Over the weekend, he was cooperative and hilarious and not at all hesitant around that big camera.

Happy third birthday, B!

Somehow we still had leaves, too!

**I am officially booked for 2015.  I am starting to reserve sessions for 2016, primarily starting in March.**

Adventure: Old Town Alexandria Family Photographer

I love photographing families we know.  Jessica and I both know this lovely family from church, and we spent Saturday morning wandering Old Town Alexandria capturing them together.

This little cutie isn't quite two and is such a smartie - he told us all the colors he saw.  He's not a fan of the camera, so we told him we were going on an adventure.  He wanted to find a motorcycle.  Unfortunately, he found one about three minutes after we started that mission, so we had to make up a few other goals.

Old Town was crowded and Christmas decorations are going on display.  I've noticed more and more over the past couple weeks, so I can't wait to see what's on display next weekend!

Tip: Mom and Dad brought along a diaper bag full of snacks, toys, and treats.  That bag saved our session!

I'm booked for 2015 but you can book now for 2016!  Just email me.

Mini-Session: Mom and Daughter Family Photos, Alexandria, VA

It's no secret that I have a great intern.  What you may not know is that her mom is pretty fantastic, too.  Jessica and her mom didn't have many high quality photos together, and we set out to fix that.

On Sunday,  Jessica and I had plans to go to Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown.  There's no professional photography allowed there, but we spent a day having fun with our cameras.  If you follow my personal blog, you can see some of the pictures. But before we left, I snapped a few mom and daughter pictures of this beautiful duo.  No doubt they are related!

Although I'm booked through the end of 2015, I just opened my 2016 calendar!

Christmas Card Session: Old Town Alexandria Family Photographer

I adore baby H.  I was so excited to have her in front of my camera again, this time with her parents.

The weather was cold and windy but H was a trooper!  Her only requirement was that mom hold her during the entire session.

Merry Christmas card season!  Get ready for lots of family shots over the coming weeks as everyone prepares to celebrate the holiday season!

Family Christmas: Arlington, VA Family Photographer

I am lucky.  I've lived in the same area long enough to watch high school students grow into lovely adults with their own families.

This sweet baby girl and her family were a joy to photograph.  Baby E was a trooper despite the chilly weather and she was so expressive!

Mom had hoped for some trees in the background and a week ago, I was getting nervous as leaves fell.  I was thrilled to discover that a few places in Arlington still have perfect fall colors.

The coordinating red and grey was perfect without being overly matchy-matchy.

In a super smart move, Grandma and Grandpa came along to help with baby warming, and Grandpa was the king of making her smile.

The rest of the session is posted here.  As always, you can stay up to date on Facebook.

Interested in photos?  I have one spot left for family or child photos on December 12, and can book one late afternoon/evening slot for a special session (maternity or high school senior.)

Family photos make great gifts, so if you missed getting on the calendar for 2015, you can always book for 2016 and give a gift card.  It's a great gift for your high school senior!
