Family at Ft. Ward Park {Alexandria, VA Photographer}

I loved seeing this family again!  Since my previous session with them was a newborn shoot, it was so fun to see their little girl running and playing.

Old Town Photos: A Colorful Family Session

These clients also happen to be friends of mine, and the weekend before their session, one of the girls was wearing this dress.  "Ms. Megan!  Look at my dress!  It's from Kenya!" 

She told me all about the dresses and the story behind them and simply glowed, so naturally I shared this with the mom, who managed to style the girls not to be overly matchy and yet to wear their lovely dresses.

We opted for Old Town in our third year of family photos.  The last time we shot in Old Town, the littlest was only three and we stuck around Carlyle House.  This year, we adventured through alleyways and side streets and found little nooks and benches and other lovely backdrops.

Extended Family: Founders Park, Old Town

This session featured a happy baby, a silly three year old, two pups, two parents, an uncle and a grandma!  We headed down to Founders Park in Old Town Alexandria to find a space for pups to play and kids to find a few fall leaves.  Despite the grey skies, the morning was lovely and the kids were as cute as can be!

Washington-Lee Class of 2018: An Old Town Senior Session

When your senior looks like a model and is super fun, you know you're going to have a good session, even if it's eight trillion degrees and nine thousand percent humidity.  Fortunately, Kristy spends her summers playing beach volleyball in Florida, so I knew she could deal!

We wandered Old Town and even the family dog got in on the fun!

Even though 2017 is nearly full, I will always do whatever I can to fit in a senior session!

New Baby Boy: Arlington, VA Newborn at Home

I love meeting new families in their homes with new babies, and this family was no exception.  Their new little man was such a calm baby, and it was a joy to meet them and work in their lovely light filled nursery.

#MilesForNicole: A Family Session

I met the mom in this family through some neighborhood stuff, but specifically because we're members of the same running club.  (That's been a theme on the blog lately!)  I've known her and her little girl for awhile now, but I loved photographing them alongside her husband and parents!  Grandparents who are in great shape, run races as a family, and are willing to be dragged all over Ft. Ward Park in pursuit of a great photo spot are obviously fun to photograph!  The sweet two year old was so obviously surrounded by love.

But there's more to this session and this story.  My absolute favorite image was one I shot in memory of a family member who passed away.  Her legacy is the reason her sister began running.  I won't do Nicole's story justice, but I urge you to read about her family's efforts here.  This year has featured a few hard and beautiful sessions - rainbow babies, kids facing major medical challenges, and families learning to live in the absence of someone they love.  Please let me know if there's a unique situation in your family you want to memorialize for your session - I'm happy to work with you to create the right image for your story.
