The Importance of Documenting Daily Life

I recently received a giant box of childhood photos.  By giant box, I mean 35 solid pounds of printed photographs, some in albums, from approximately 1980-1999.  Precious photos of cousins.  Out-of-focus photos of my brother's kindergarten classmates.  And daily life photos of my little brother and me, playing with our toys and making a mess in the backyard.

The final set is the most important to me.  Those daily life photos brought back the most memories and motivated a number of texts to my brother.

This month, I'm dedicated to documenting my kids at play.  Jumping and spinning on the carpet.  Running around the backyard.  Attempting to play baseball.

Contact me if you're interested in capturing the little moments with your own family.  I love joining you for an afternoon or evening of your everyday!

Three Under Three {Arlington, VA In-Home Newborn Photographer}

In March, I had the opportunity to photograph a family of four waiting to welcome a new little boy.  Well that sweet boy took his time, and two weeks after his due date, he arrived to meet his mommy, daddy, and twin big sisters.  On Sunday morning, I got to capture daily life with this sweet family of five!

I'm booking for weekdays and for a few June weekends, so contact me ASAP to schedule a session with your own little ones!

One-Third Done {365 Project}

What started as a crazy idea on December 30 of last year is now 1/3 done.  I've gotten my kids in front of the camera more than I had in the previous year and a half, I am growing as a photographer, and as a side benefit, my oldest has become quite the model!

The challenge is hard some days, especially when I have client photos on the brain.  Recently, I was given a huge box of childhood photos which re-ignited my love for this project and got me in major print-ordering mode.  Even if my kids get frustrated with the camera (really, just, the little kid gets frustrated) they'll be thankful in 20 or 30 years!

Burnside Farms Tulip Session {Arlington, VA Family Photographer}

A baby.  A preschooler.  A field of tulips.  A beautiful day, a ten minute rainstorm, a collection of wooden shoes.

Is there anything else required for a great morning?

I've had the opportunity to photograph this family many times, but this is my all time favorite gallery I've delivered to them.

The tulip fields are closing until next year, but Burnside Farms will have sunflowers in August.  I'm also booking regular summer sessions and Arlington County Fair sessions!  Use the contact form at the bottom of this page to book a session for your own family!

Beach Volleyball in Northern VA {Arlington and Dulles, VA Sports Photography}

This incredible junior will have her senior photos taken this summer, but we wanted to capture a bit of her volleyball skills as well.  Kristy plays beach volleyball and travels all over the country, and this was my first opportunity to see her play!  Despite the chilly weather and not-at-the-beach sand court, I had a great morning catching her in action.

Want to save memories of your family?  I am booking for May and June with just a few slots left, and a few after-school senior sessions available.  Use the contact form on the bottom of the page for more info!
