Senior Photos in Old Town Alexandria {Post 1 of 3}

I recently photographed this sweet senior in honor of Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week, and mom asked me about Senior Portraits... for triplets.  Yep, she's a triplet.  To let each of these three have their own moment to shine, you'll see this session as three separate blog posts.

Wakefield High School Senior, Class of 2017:  Full of sass and with a smile that completely lights up her face and makes everyone around smile, too.

Carlyle House: Family of 6 {Alexandria, VA}

If you're like me, photographs of the second child are hard to come by.  So when this sweet mom wanted some family photos that focused on baby #4, I got it... (Kind of.  If I ever were to have four kids I could assume that there'd be no photographic record based on my track record with baby #2.)

Chaos and fun and laughter are inevitable with two boys and two girls allowed to run and play at the Carlyle House garden.

The tulips are blooming and the sun is shining and I have lots of fun sessions coming up, as well as some open slots left to schedule.  Contact me via the form on this site to lock in your session time!

Baby on the Way {Arlington, VA Lifestyle Maternity Photographer}

Starting a couple years ago, I got connected with the twin/multiple community locally.  I'm not a twin and I don't have twins, but I've certainly had the joy of photographing lots of them!  These two sweeties are soon to be big sisters, and I got to capture their family while it's still a family of four.  I have a few Spring spots left and am booking for Summer, so contact me ASAP if you want to get in on photos for 2017!

The Slow Days of Fake Spring and Real Winter.

Winter is the slow season in my world, spent recovering from the family photo craze leading up to December.  A few sessions here and there, but I really get going in April for the year.  This winter has also included some photo classes which has been a nice change of pace.

To keep my creative mind going over winter, many of you know I committed to a 365 project - a daily photo of my kids.  I love seeing my little one grow in her love for the camera.  She even dragged my camera bag out today!  My older daughter loves being photographed and has very strong opinions.  Here's a smattering of our life since my last 365 update!

Welcome, Baby Sister! {Arlington, VA Lifestyle Newborn Photographer}

There is nothing sweeter than a new baby, except, perhaps a sweet baby with a big brother.  And a light-filled little nursery where her parents dote on her.  This session was such a joy for me to capture, and was my third with this family, who I've known for.... a long time.

I love capturing genuine moments and interactions in families and this session was full of love and laughs and a very involved and helpful brother.  I ended up with a lot of black and white conversions thanks to a documentary feel, but I love the color versions as well.

Heart Warriors: Arlington, VA Family and Child Photographer

Learning your newborn or even unborn baby has a heart defect can be terrifying.  In our experience, the waiting and fear were harder than the surgery itself, and Ellie was amazingly resilient.

I photographed a number of children, ages newborn to high school senior, with congenital heart defects in honor of CHD Awareness Month.  This collage also includes their siblings, and one mama with a CHD herself.

You'll notice kids with Down syndrome disproportionately represented.  Kids with Down syndrome have about a 40-50% chance of having some kind of heart defect.

Like Ellie's cute zipper club shirt?  It's from Capitol Maker.
