Family of 3 at Ft. Ward {Arlington/Alexandria, VA Family Photographer}

2016, it's been real.

I have so enjoyed all of the families I've worked with, and this was a sweet ending to the year.  The day was chilly but not rainy.  Mom and Dad decided to make a go for outdoor photos, and my Southern California self's first question was, "Where are you from?"

Well, their one year old son wasn't too bothered by the cold and we laughed a lot, had a beautiful session and enjoyed ourselves (except for our frozen hands) thoroughly!

Next up for me?  A couple weeks of quiet around here as I prepare for Christmas, unless I manage to take and edit photos of my own children.  Booking for 2017.  Sharing some highlights on my Facebook page.  And looking back on a great year.

Grandma, Mom and Twins {Alexandria, VA Family Photographer}

The last time I photographed these girls, they were maybe two.  Now they're running around and talking and telling me all about visiting Santa and asking for a bell and their grandma's visit.  We went to Ft. Ward on a chilly Wednesday morning, and after we got the posed shots, I took the girls on an adventure to get some candids.  We ran all around the fort and climbed stairs and touched grass growing on the fort walls.

Merry Christmas, sweet girls.  I hope Santa sees the bells on your stockings and knows you both believe!

Expecting Baby Sister {Arlington, VA Maternity Photographer}

I had just informed my husband that I was all done booking for fall when I got a message from a friend I first met when she was probably in high school.  "Hey Megan, we're expecting number two.  Any chance you can fit us in?"  YES.

I am so excited for this simply beautiful family.  Their son will be the best big brother (and is probably a future model.  He loves the camera.)  I had a rough Thanksgiving week.  I was in a car accident, my back was sore, my oldest was sick, my baby was teething, my husband was sick, I never got super sick but felt awful on Thanksgiving.  And then I got to go out Saturday morning and capture joy and hope.  My rough week got way better.

I am profoundly thankful for the privilege of what I do.
